The Wine of the Month
Club was the inspiration of Paul Kalemkiarian Sr.
In 1972, while owning a premium wine shop in Palos Verdes
Estates, Paul noticed the need of the wine consumer,
good wine at a good price. Good value was not the only
element that Paul realized would help make his wine
shop grow. He determined that even though he catered
to an upscale market, the lack of wine education was
high. Then the idea came to him, how about a mail order
wine education course that included the wine! The Wine
of the Month Club was born.
 Since then The Wine of
the Month Club has moved several times. The original
wine shop was sold, but the mail order rights were kept.
First, it moved next door, into a pharmacy also owned
by Paul Sr. You can imagine the surprise on the pharmacy
customers faces when the wine deliveries came. Later,
the club was moved to Redondo Beach, then to Lomita.
In 1989, Paul Jr. bought the company from his father
and moved the business to Arcadia, and then moved to
Monrovia, where we have been
located since 1997. In June of 1998 the Wine Shoppe
was opened.
This constitutes over
31 years of serving the wine drinking public with quality
and value oriented wines. Each month our members receive
two wines, one is red and one is white, one being an
import and the other a domestic wine. These wines are
chosen out of literally hundreds of wines tasted each
month for consideration into the wine club. Each shipment
is accompanied by a newsletter that describes the wines,
the winery and the winemaker. It also provides
a recipe paired for both of the wines and shows you
how you can order more of any of the previous selections.
Each wine is guaranteed for both quality and price and
is available for reorder for no less than 4 months.

create THE VINTNERS SERIES.
Our goal: To provide members with memorable wines
that have a clearly noticeable edge over other perfectly acceptable wines. And
even with a membership cost that’s several dollars a bottle higher than our
classic WINE OF THE MONTH
CLUB Regular Series, you’ll find the prices
of THE VINTNERS SERIES wines far below what you might find for comparable wines
elsewhere.
THE VINTNERS SERIES puts the focus on wines that you might come across in wine shops selling
at $25 to $35. As a member of THE VINTNERS
SERIES, your cost for these wines will not
exceed $29.98 for the two-bottle selection you receive each month. Plus, you’ll
be guaranteed further discounted prices when you reorder your favorite Monthly
Selections. If you’d like to experience these truly outstanding wines, ideal for
holding in reserve or for special occasions or as gifts.
