One thing about the Cate winery: they know what districts to
get their grapes from.
I loved the Cate Pinot Noir we featured. Frankly, I didn't care
for the packaging that much. Sometimes that happens in this business.
The juice is good, but the labeling falls short. And then there
are the wines where the label is beautiful and the wine can't keep
up.
Last week (tasting day) the Cate representative brought me their
Cate
Sonoma Chardonnay. Here's another winner from the Cate
camp. Subtle green apple and butterscotch in the nose. Wonderful
delicate weight on the palate. Flavors of green apple, kiwi, and
hints of oak come through. This is real Sonoma Chardonnay. The finish
keeps on going! Serve slightly chilled with fire-roasted salmon.
