Clos des Tours is part of the Domain of Naujan, a wine estate that lies in an exceptional environment consisting of 175 acres of forest, pastures and 90 acres of vineyards. The ch?teau de Naujan is named after the knight Gaillard de Naujan who built the manor in 1316.

Frederic Batisse succeeded his father in 1997, as the head of the estate, which in fact was just an old farmhouse falling into ruins, making a living off mixed farming. As professional stonemason from the renowned 'Compagnons du Devoir', Frederic Batisse realized that this house was the remnant of an early 14th century manor, so he decided to spend a few intense months to renovate the building completely. He decided to restore the winery and eventually add tourist accommodations.

The estate is situated in the prestigious Bordeaux Superieur appellation of France. Vilification occurs in stainless steel vats and ageing occurs in total respect of the Bordeaux traditions, with a modern control of the temperatures during fermentation. The building of the cellars was completed in August 1999, and they were inaugurated at the following harvest.

This vintage, which earned a silver medal at the Concours de Macon in 2000, also produced a prestige cuvee, which was brought on the market only in February 2001, under the name Chateau Lafleur Naujan. Since that time, Frederic Batisse never stopped innovating. He constantly improves the quality of his wines through a compromise between time-proven traditional methods and up-to-date modern technology.

Frederic Batisse is a member of Commission of the Syndicate of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieurs for the promotion of the wine, where he is in a position to give his standpoint and to use his international experience to improve the distribution of our wines in this difficult market.

The wine exhibits the typical flavors of a young Bordeaux. It is fairly aggressive on the palate, but with an hour or two of aeration, will begin to show the lovely nuanced berry and leather flavors. Try with hearty meat dishes like steak Diane.
