Terravant Wine Company, in Buellton, makes our selection about 50 miles north of Santa Barbara. They are an impressively large custom crush facility that houses almost 25 small winery operations who share equipment and staff. They also source grapes from all of the premiumvineyards in the Central Coast.
The winemaker is Anna Clifford, a Southern California girl, who was inspired to make a career in wine after seeing the beautiful, sprawling vineyard landscape in the romantic comedy, "French Kiss." She earned her Enology Degree from UC Davis and then visited the wine regions of France, Italy, Germany, and others before coming back to the states.
Upon her return, Anna spent 10 years in Napa and Sonoma with many of the most respected wineries in the area, but her first love was Santa Barbara as it was the first wine area she visited with her parents. She left Santa Barbara, but Santa Barbara never left her. Now, making wine in Santa Barbara is her dream come true.
Anna's experience in Napa was centered on Cabernet Sauvignon and it certainly shows in this superb example of that grape. The name, 1903, is a commemoration of the Wright Brothers' historic flightthat ushered in the golden age of flying. The world was never the same afterward.
Picked from the best grapes in the area, our selection is a basket of enticing Cabernet flavors from black cherry and berryto enticing leather and spice.
