Seaglass is the work of Trinchero Family Estates, home to another one of our favorite wineries, Sutter Home - along with a great deal of others. They own prime vineyards up and down the state fromSonoma to Santa Barbara.
Seaglass is a special project that takes advantage of their prime coastal vineyards, but their attention to detail doesn't stop there. The grapes are hand harvested to make sure they arrive in perfect condition at the winery and are picked early in the morning so any possible heat won't induce fermentation. They also ferment at very low temperatures to preserve the delicate flavors only Riesling can provide.
This beauty comes from their vineyards in Monterey, renowned for its amazing take on Riesling. The long, cool growing season here almost assures perfect grapes every year. The soil plays a major role as well. Being close to the coast, it boasts remnants of sea matter, ergo thename, which form a holy alliance with the other nutrients in the soil and climate to create the perfect conditions for growing Riesling.
Riesling can make wonderful wine when grown all over the world, but it is only in a few places where it is great. Germany would be the ultimate, but many others like Monterey are highly thought of aswell. The wines from here have the classic peach and apricot flavors combined with a walloping finish.
