A successful 1991 sojourn for Colorado businessman Steve Jacobs to Western Australia's Margaret River encouraged him to enter the Wine Industry. A 100 acre property became available less than two miles from the Indian Ocean. With natural wind breaks and easy access to water, it was perfect for viticulture. After purchasing the land in 1995, Steve began a search for someone with whom to share his dream. Guy and Chantal Gallienne, originally from the Loire Valley, were recent arrivals to the Margaret River. They were flabbergasted by the quality wines produced in the region. Luck and good fortune saw a meeting between Steve and Guy, and a mutual bond developed. Several meetings, soil analysis studies, and drawing up of a business plan later, they agreed to create Eagle Vale. Steve agreed to finance the development and the Galliennes agreed to undertake the work. The work began in 1997. A 10 acre dam was created and the land was prepared. The vines were planted in late 1998. Eagle Vale Estate had been created to textbook perfection. The dream was becoming reality.2001 was instrumental in Eagle Vale's history, marking the first vintage under the Eagle Vale label. Thanks to an encouraging review by famed English wine writer James Halliday in 2005, in which Eagle Vale Estate Wines received a perfect five star rating, they announced their arrival in grand style. Eagle Vale has grown gradually and by 2009 a team of sales professionals and an inspiring export market has seen Eagle Vale wines become available in Australia, the UK, USA and China. This is a classic White Bordeaux blend grown in a cool climate with an incredibly long growing season. These conditions allow the grapes to extract nutrients from the soil, producing rich grapes from which you can make intensely flavored wines.
