April 2019 Classic, Limited and Vintners Series Wine Tasting
Dear Wine Lover,
Josh Phelps showed up in my office the other day. Who is Josh Phelps? One up and coming winemaker who has winemaking pedigree in his blood. Name a prestigious winery in the world and you will probably mention one of his father's alma maters.
Josh joins us in studio to talk about his own winemaking journey, regional differences in terroir and philosophy, and how his native Napa is "kind of like Disneyland."
We also taste a few of his wines: a Washington State red, a Bordeaux blend from Napa, and a 2017 Grenache Rosé from Paso Robles, which was a big hit with our Rosé Series club members.
Salud,
PK
Ed is beside himself with the Backhouse Pinot Noir. Then he freaks over his friend Brian Babcock's Grenache Blanc. And so it goes with the January Classic Series of wines.
What can I say? When you are good at what you do...you just are. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I will. The Vintners Series wines for January each in their own right...fantastic. From Oregon Pinot Noir to Paso Robles Cabernet...Wow!.
Here is the deal. When I taste wine...I consider the grape, the vintage and the region. If all those make sense, I make an offer. You want Tupungato Malbec...here it is in the Serbal; you want an incredible example of Chianti...look no further, and so on and so on..
