Eagle Vale's Steve Jacobs

Eagle Vale

Join Paul as he interviews EagleVale's Steve Jacobs.
Driven by a passion, influenced by a dream, Margaret River became the perfect location for the dream to become a reality.

A successful 1991 sojourn to the region, for Colorado businessman Steve Jacobs, encouraged him to enter the Wine Industry.  A 44ha property became available.  2km in from the Indian Ocean, natural wind breaks and with easy access to water, it appeared perfect for viticulture.  After purchasing the land in 1995, Steve began a search for someone to share his dream.

Watch Paul as he interviews Eagle Vale's Steve Jacobs.Guy and Chantal Gallienne, originally from the Loire Valley, had recently arrived in Margaret River encouraged by the quality wines produced in the region.  Luck, and a lot of good fortune saw a meeting between Steve and Guy.  Several meetings, soil analysis studies, and drawing up of a business plan, the Gallienne¹s agreed to join Steve in the creation of Eagle Vale. Steve agreed to finance the development and the Gallienne¹s agreed to undertake the work.  1997 became a turning point when the work began.

A 10 acre dam was created and the land was prepared.  The vines were planted in late 1998.  Eagle Vale Estate had been created to text book perfection. The dream was becoming reality.

2001 was instrumental in Eagle Vale¹s history with the first vintage under the Eagle Vale label.  Thanks to an encouraging review by James Halliday in 2005, which saw a 5 star rating given, Eagle Vale Estate Wines announced their arrival in grand style.

Eagle Vale has grown gradually and by 2009, a team of 3 Sales people and an inspiring export market have seen Eagle Vale wines become available in, not only Australia, but also the UK, USA, China and the Seychelles.  With further developments planned, the future of Eagle Vale Estate is assured.
