FREEMARK ABBEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 1969
With the current shortage of Cabernet Sauvignon wines and the results of a recent blind tasting by our panel, we were pleased to obtain a few cases of Freemark Abbey 1969. It received the most points in our wine tasting over other twelve Cabernet's tried.
Freemark Abbey Winery is a concise modern operation tucked into a late 19th Century stone cellar near St. Helena in Napa Valley. Total production volume is very limited (20,000 cases/yr.) and is confined to but four premium var¬ietal wines. Aging is done in 60 gallon French Nevers oak barrels.
This varietal is composed of 88% cabernet grape and 12% merlot. It is a fine wine with an abundant nose, with typical varietal overtones, and a lovely lingering finish.
Save it for a special occasion this month and enjoy it with a mildly dressed red meat so you can savour the finer points of this wine. $6.00 per fifth

GOLD RIBBON RIESLING "Late Picking"
KAISER-STUHL AUSTRALIA
Mention has been made often about Australian wines in recent trade journals, food and wine magazines. We bring you a good example of Australia's answer to a German spat¬lese. A Johannisberg Riesling grape grown in the southern coast of Australia by the largest cooperative. The Barossa Valley Vineyards where a group of pioneering German settlers migrated produce some of the finest Australian wines. The grape is picked late (when fully ripe) to develop the sugar and reduce the acid content.
Delightfully refreshing and a good contribution to the spectrum of late picked Johannisberg Riesling's available on the market today. Notice the great nose this wine has.
Use it as an appetizer or dessert wine. Serve chilled.
$2.99 per fifth

VINEYARDS AND CHAMPAGNE CELLARS
CALISTOGA, CALIFORNIA 94515
Schramsberg comes to Palos Verdes Liquor and Spice. We are happy to announce that Jack Davies of Schramsberg Vine¬yards and Champagne cellars has appointed our slop as an agency. This prestigeous vineyard is one of the leading champgane makers in the United States. At present time, we should hale received Blancs de Blanes ($7.75/fifth) and Cuvee de Gamay ($6.75/fifth).
The battle for display space and storage is never won in a retail establishment. We just recently were able to make some changes and add room for an additional hundred more wines to stock and display. We are in the process of evaluating what we should buy and what we should carry. If any of our readers have any favorites to suggest, we are anx¬ious to hear from you. Please let us know.
Are there any wines you have not been available to find a source for? Give us a try. We have been successful in tracing some unusual ones. Call Paul Kalemkiarian our Wine Manager.
