We are very pleased to present this unique and different selection that is way under the radar of most wine lovers. First of all, it's a red wine from the Loire. This sprawling appellation is 200 miles long and begins at the Atlantic coast of France. Less than 10% of wines from the Loire are red.

Our selection is made from Cabernet Franc. It's one of the principle grapes of Bordeaux, especially on the Left Bank of the Gironde River, but that's where the similarity ends. In the appellation of Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Cabernet Franc presents a more delicate balance, with softer edges and lilting fruit.

The winery is now owned by two brothers, Antoine and Francois Jamet, who took over from their parents in 2009. Their family's winemaking history at the estate spans eight generations, going back to the property's founding by their ancestor, Pierre Jamet, in 1820. It is now approaching its 200th anniversary.

If you were to visit the property, it would seem as if it was somehow bypassed by the 20th century. Most of the work is done by hand here. They use almost no outside interference and grow only one grape: Cabernet Franc.

This almost spartan operation is what accounts for the lovely expression of this engaging grape. The Jamets think of themselves as guides, not creators. They see their mission as taking what Mother Nature gives them and guiding it to its finest hour. In the glass, that translates into a lovely cherry and anise offering with a delicate, yet satisfying finish.
