A neat and polished wine with excellent definition. Great freshness. Amazing purity. A succulent wine, vibrant, brilliant, wonderfully balanced. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou sits on the banks of the Gironde Estuary in the appellation of Saint-Julien. 100 hectares are planted with vines, and the estate has been owned and operated by the Borie family for over 60 years. The vines have an average age of 35 years and have a root depth of about 6 meters, which allows them to withstand climatic difficulties and draw more nutrients from the soil by penetrating deeper into the earth. The name of Ducru-Beacaillou is derived from the "beau caillou," French for "beautiful stones" which are abundant in the soils of the estate. The Gironde has moderating effect on the climate of the estate creating milder winters and cooler summers.
