Crus et Domaines de France, a legendary Bordeaux producer with over 200 years of history, is the proprietor of Domaine du Cheval Blanc. Once you see a wine associated with a chateau, you know that it will be no less than spectacular. While the owner has properties all over France, their emphasis is Bordeaux, controlling no less than 30 chateaux.
The fact that our selection is the only white Bordeaux in the portfolio speaks volumes. Obviously, they're making a statement here with a wine that matches the quality of their entire empire. They have nothing to worry about. Bordeaux Blanc is very rare. Less than 10% of the wines from here are dry whites, yet they are among the most revered and expensive wines in the world.
Our selection is a blend of 40% each of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, and 20% Muscadelle. This blend has been tried in many other countries, but none have tasted like this because the grapes in this region produce wine unlike any other in any part of the world. It is obviously the soil which plays a very important part here, accounting for the amazing minerality of this wine. The wine exhibits a sense of place like few other wines in the world and that sense comes in the form of slate and granite. Then the wave of stone fruit and citrus comes into play. Finally, it finishes with pink grapefruit, ready to take on a cioppino or paella.
