Chateau Briot comes to us from the Ducort Family, an influential and legendary company founded in 1858 by Pierre Ducort. Since then, they have acquired some of the most prestigious properties in Bordeaux and have made quite a name for themselves in white wines. This is particularly unique since 75% of Bordeaux wine is red.

Briot was purchased by the family in 1980 and is supervised by Jeremy and Philippe Ducort. The chateau is made up of 32 acres, a small addition to the family's holdings of over 1,000 acres in Bordeaux. As with all their acquisitions, the Ducorts have elevated this property to be one of the top producers in the area.

The grape here is all Sauvignon Blanc. Like a few other areas in the world, there is symmetry between grape and soil here that can only be described as magical. Sauvignon Blanc has always been one of our favorite grapes, but when grown on the soil of Bordeaux, it becomes extraordinary.

Its powerful presence and extracted flavors are even more pronounced here because the Ducort's allow contact with the skin for only a few hours. This adds a grip to the wine that only enhances the flavors. But, it has to be carefully monitored, or the wine will lose its elusive characteristics.

Jeremy Ducort's careful hand brings out the power and glory of Sauvignon Blanc with great precision. The white peach and minerality literally scream out of the glass, presenting a wine to enhance all comers from crawfish etouffee to swordfish tacos.
