Chateau Laubarit has been controlled by the Dumas and Simonneau families since 1780 and run by one or both families ever since. The chateau is located in Entres-Deux-Mers, between two seas, one of the largest and most fertile appellations in France. Over the last 40 years or so, Entres-Deux-Mers has elevated itself to great heights contributable mostly to estates like Laubarit.

Pierre-Abel and Nicole Simonneau assumed the estate in 1965 and now manage it with their son, Florent, and their daughter-in-law, Isabelle. They were also one of the first to do something very dramatic in Bordeaux. They became completely organic. In 2003, they became biodynamic. It is incredible to think that this property has not seen any pesticides or chemical fertilizers for more than 55 years. How this is reflected in the wine cannot be certified as it would be impossible to taste a comparison against the same vineyards which are not organic. Suffice to say, the wines speak for themselves. If it's the farming practices, so be it.

Our blend features the three grapes allowed for Bordeaux Blanc, but the percentages are a bit different. Of the 60 acres, approximately 18 are planted to white grapes. Our selection reflects this as it comprises 40% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% each of Semillon and Muscadelle.

The high degree of Muscadelle is what accounts for the explosive fruit components in the nose and palate. The round, yet penetrating flavors of peach, quince, and kiwi could be reckoned with lobster in the half shell or veal Oscar.
