Jean Janoueix established his family wine business in Margaux at the end of the 19th century. Three generations later, the business is still family-owned and operated, now by Fran?ois, who is based in Libourne near the heart of Bordeaux. The Janoueix family's Chateau Petit Clos Du Roy is a beautiful Girondine Charter House located at the intersection of the cities of Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Neac, and Montagne. Chateau Petit Clos Du Roy is located half a mile from the biggest Pomerol growths and is considered one of the best terroirs of Montagne-Saint-Emilion.

This classic Bordeaux wine is 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. The rugged, deep, clay soil is ideal for withstanding drought conditions. As the vines work hard for nourishment during a drought, the resulting fruit expression, the terroir, is hard-won. This also means that there are successful vintages, even in difficult years. In the appellation of Montagne-Saint-Emilion, the winemaking process is strictly controlled according to traditional laws and techniques. Which ensures the wines are true to the character of each vineyard. For winemakers like Fran?ois, the passion he has for the work, the wine, and the land not only ensure that Bordeaux wines retain their fame in the years to come. But that these traditions are passed down to the next generation so that these high-quality wines will continue to be discovered by new wine lovers around the world.

This Bordeaux has a nose of blackcurrant, cherry, vanilla, tobacco, and pepper. On the palate, expect soft tannins with an appealing finish. As with the best of Saint-Emilion, the tannic structure is complimented by elegant fruit and spice. Bordeaux is the quintessential food wine and pairs well with beef, lamb, game, and poultry.
