It's hard to imagine that a company can own over 1,200 acres of vineyards in Bordeaux and produce 41 million cases of wine, and they're all great. That's the case with Crus et Domains de France, owners of Domaine du Cheval Blanc.

Part of it is the laws of Bordeaux. A chateau is legally bound to keep production below a certain amount of wine, which assures quality, or they are restricted from even calling it Bordeaux. Think of the difference in the price you could get for a wine labeled Bordeaux instead of French Red Wine! It's worth too much.

Domaine du Cheval Blanc is in Entre-deux-Mers, quickly becoming one of the hottest areas in Bordeaux. The quality to price ratio is one of the best anywhere in the world. The same family has owned most of the wineries for centuries. Their debt is minimal, so they can put their efforts into making great wine, not paying off their land.

Our selection is the classic blend of 43% Cabernet Franc, 38% Merlot, and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon. As a matter of fact, the amount of Cabernet Sauvignon is more significant than most, which explains why the wine is as well.

Its dense blackberry mix with earth, licorice, and leather produce a swirl of flavors. It would match a hearty beef stew with root vegetables or rare tenderloin of venison with a dried cranberry glaze.
