Every now and then a wine is brought to us that is almost magical. Everything works; the wine, the package and the story.

WineX was founded in Sonoma some 20 years ago. Bread and Butter is one of their brands. It was composed of wine professionals with a lot of experience in the wine business, but their best decision was to bring in Kurt Lorenzi.

Kurt is one of those winemakers who isn't a household name but should be. We think he's one of the best there is, and we have the experience to prove it. Over the course of the last 40 or so years, we've never tasted a wine he made that wasn't spectacular. It's an amazing achievement and one you'd never know if you met the guy. He just shrugs it off, smiles, thanks you, puts on his boots and goes to work.

Great winemakers are both born and made. Being born with the ability doesn't prepare you for all the roadblocks that get in your way. It's the experience of dealing with those roadblocks along with an innate sense of how to deal with the ones you haven't dealt with before. It's extremely challenging, but the great ones are up to the challenge.

It finishes with everything that was promised in the nose leaving a breath of nuanced flavors that leave you breathless.

Here we have nothing short of an amazing Cabernet, brimming with all the black cherry, licorice and spice features that would make a stuffed flank steak sing or a lamb chop dance. Thanks, Kurt.
