Amafu comes to us from Studio Beverage Group, run by powerhouse executive, Nick Pringle. Nick has worked in the wine business all over the world, in China, Africa, Europe, and South America. He is now back home in the US, sourcing wines from all over the world.

It may sound like an exciting job, but it's an extremely complex one. First of all, liquor is one of the most regulated products in the world. Each country and even each state or province has their own set of rules that have to be followed to buy or sell there.

Only someone with the in depth experience of Nick Pringle can navigate those seas which at times can turn into tidal waves. He has degrees in business and accounting, which are invaluable when dealing in a worldwide arena. Our selection is produced in one of the smallest, yet important, appellations in South Africa, Breedekloof. This area boasts abundant sunshine and its altitude assures cooling influences which allows the Semillon grape to hit its highest point of perfection. Amafu means "clouds" in Zulu and refers to that altitude.

We wish more people would produce this grape. It is used primarily as a blending grape in Bordeaux, but can stand out on its own as it does here. Our selection sports an exotic blend of mango, peach, and banana flavors with a touch of fig. It would shine with clam soup or grilled salmon with tomato concasse.
