Memoir Reserve Pinot is another spectacular offering from the Maggio family of Oak Ridge Winery in Lodi. They have been making wines for five generations, since Angelo Maggio arrived in Lodi in 1906 from the Italy coast of Genova with his wife, Louisa.
Their winemaker, Jason Dodge, also already had 20 years of experience when he joined the Maggio family. That family feeling runs deep here. People are not just employees or workers, they're part of a family with a history and a goal of keeping and improving upon the heritage. It was this sense of place which drew Dodge to Oak Ridge, and it's what will keep him there.
It's no surprise, then, that Oak Ridge is one of the founders of the Lodi Rules organization, which sets guidelines for members with respect to how to run an upstanding business, taking care of employees by providing viable training and education programs.
Our selection is a grand and glorious wine made by people who know how to make them. Also, it would be impossible to find a wine of this quality at this price. The finished wine was placed in 100% new French oak barrels for eight months. This fact alone would add the entire cost of the bottle to the final price. Incredible price aside, this wine is lavished with spice cherry, cedar, and vanilla that would fit nicely with sage-marinated pork tenderloin or osso buco.
