Our selection comes to us from the Studio Beverage Group, purveyors of high end, collectable wines from France and California. They work with top wineries to craft selections with their elite team of wine professionals. The wines they create for the Studio Beverage Group are impressive and of the utmost quality and taste.
The wine came from a top producer in the Cotes du Rhone and was destined for a high end New York restaurant. With the events of last year, things did not go quite as planned. They came to us for help and we happily obliged.
The grapes came from both the Rhone and the Provence area, which is how they craft this unique blend of 50% Carignan, 25% Merlot and 25% Grenache. The key, of course, is here in the Carignan. The vines that produced the grapes are over 75 years old, meaning that they have been taking nutrients from the soil to nurture the grapes for three-quarters of a century.
The vines yield less than half of the grapes they produced 40 years ago, but the intensity is off the charts. Billows of rich, black fruit fill the air with black cherry, blackberries, and pomegranate. The flavors intensify in the mouth, adding spice and earthy notes, creating a symphony of flavors. Its memorable finish would go nicely with a Philippine barbeque, roasted pig, black beans, and plantains.
