Estrella brings back some fond memories of the original Estrella River Winery founded in Paso Robles some 45 years ago. It was one of the very first wineries there and certainly the largest. Their winemaker was Gary Eberle who went on to found his own winery in the same area, which is now one of the best in Paso.
The ups and downs of the wine business eventually closed its doors and the property was purchased by Berringer and eventually Bronco Wine Company the giant operation owned by the Franzia Family. Founded in 1973 by Fred T., Joseph S., and John Franzia, Bronco Wine Company is a family-owned winery committed to producing the best values in California wine. They have become a major vintage varietal wine source to the California wine industry and is currently the fifth largest winery and the largest vineyard owner in the United States. They believe the notion that big is bad, in that their wines stand alongside the best in all categories except price.
Bronco now owns property in all major appellations in California, which totals 100,000 acres. Half of those acres are organic, the largest organic acreage in the world. It's just a matter of time before the remaining acreage become organic. Our selection is classic Bronco. The flavors are resolute and poignant with lemongrass and honeysuckle aromas and flavors dominating. There is the faintest hint of musk oil, just to keep in interesting. The perfectly executed fettuccini al fredo would be, well, perfect.
