Our selection comes from Vintage Wine Estates, a powerhouse wine group who own, among others, some of the most sought-after brands in the country such as Girard, Clos Pegase, Swanson, B.R. Cohn and Layer Cake. Their reach extends to Italy, France, and Australia, making them one of the most impressive wine organizations in the world. Vintage is headed by Pat Roney, a savvy business entrepreneur with decades of experience in the prime winemaking regions of the country including Napa, Sonoma and Paso Robles as well as Washington and Oregon.
His head of winemaking operations is Marco DiGiulio, a 30 year veteran with not only experience in California, but in other countries as well. His experience brings a global perspective to the wines, taking advantage of every possibility the grapes offer and making sure that they are brought to their fullest potential. That is certainly the case here, as we offer this extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come exclusively from hillside vineyards, many of which were dry farmed so that the vines had to struggle for water. That struggle is what strengthens them so that they can pass the nutrients found by the root system onto the branches above ground and spread them to the grapes.
The result is an intense masterpiece of a selection featuring all the properties we expect from great Cabernet. From the dense color to the aromas of cherry and vanilla, through to the amazing presence on the palate, this beauty would be just the ticket for braised short ribs or a Santa Maria Tri-Tip.
