Winemaker Cliff Rogers graduated from California State University, Fresno (a.k.a. Fresno State) with a degree in Enology in 2015. He could have gone to U.C. Davis, thought of as the best enology school in the country, but chose Fresno for one reason: there are more winemakers in California who graduated from Fresno State than from U.C. Davis.

It's not that one school is better than the other. It's a matter of emphasis. Actually, the wine program at U.C. Davis is called "Fermentation Science," with an emphasis on the science of making wine. Fresno State, on the other hand, emphasizes hands-on winemaking, letting the science come along for the ride. Fresno has its own vineyards and winery. Davis has labs.

So, for Cliff, it was an easy choice. He wanted to make wine, not work in a lab.

As it turns out, he's doing both, since lab work is an important part of making wine. And he couldn't have landed in a better lab than Bronco Wine Company's, one of the largest in the world. With over 100 years of history, Bronco has the background and the resources to allow their winemakers to do just about anything they wish, as long as the results are great wine.

For this beauty, Cliff was able to draw from the vast array of vineyards under Bronco's control. He could pick and choose from the finest sources to craft this wine. And the result is a wonderfully classic Chardonnay, with hints of apple and guava, elongated by a touch of oak and a crisp, mouth-cleansing finish.
