When Andre Tchelistcheff was a teenager, he suffered a life-altering experience. We know it as the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Andr?'s homeland was in turmoil, but fortunately he was able to escape with his family intact to Yugoslavia. There, he majored in agriculture and eventually winemaking, going on to make quite a name for himself.

When Frenchman Georges de Latour founded his iconic winery, Beaulieu Vineyards in California's Rutherford AVA, he went searching for the best winemaker he could find. Andre was his only choice. Andre went on to craft the first iconic wine made in California: BV Georges de Latour Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Andre soon became the most celebrated winemaker in California and was constantly consulted for advice by other winery and vineyard owners. One such owner was a retired cardiologist who had bought property in Paso Robles in the '60s and later enlisted Tchelistcheff's help in what to plant where. The results were the first plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay in Paso.

Fast forward half a century, and now Paso Robles is considered one of the premium wine regions in California. The area was originally considered too warm to grow Chardonnay, but Andre proved the naysayers wrong. He taught his clients how to plant so that the sun wasn't always on the grapes and how to train the leaves to filter the sun. The result is wines like this gem, featuring the lush flavors of Chardonnay from the classic practices of raising grapes to their maximum potential.
