Pleasures comes to us from one of our favorite suppliers, O'Neill Vintners, founded in 2004 by Jeff O'Neill. He was amply financed from being a third-generation grape grower and founder of Golden State Vintners. Both operations were created as production facilities for small, independent winemakers without the resources to build their own winery. O'Neill provided the facility, equipment and expertise to guide young winemakers into the complexities of making wine. But, O'Neill was also a grape grower, so he was able to provide the raw product as well.
Today they own vineyards all over California and several facilities which produce more than 2,000 case of wine a day. One can't possess an operation of that magnitude without an amazing infrastructure and a staff to run it. They possess all of it. As a result, O'Neill can produce wines like our Pleasures Chardonnay at a price that drives the competition crazy.
Chosen from their cooler sites along the coast, our selection blends the perfect soil and climate to release a lovely scent of butterscotch and green apple mixed with small doses of clover honey, lemon peel and kiwi. What we found most appealing is the racy aromas and flavors of Asian pear and tropical fruit that could stand up to Korean BBQ chicken wings (refer to our recipe), smoked salmon with dill or even trout almondine on top of buttered mustard greens.
