However challenging things are with all that's going on in the world and while no one is happy about the circumstances, we also can't ignore the opportunities. Our Game of Thrones selection this month is one of those opportunities and it's a great one.

In another time, place and planet, this wine would cost three times what it does here. First of all, it is crafted by legendary winemaker, Bob Cabral, who has been serving up wine hits for over 30 years. Next, this beauty comes from the coolest vineyards in Oregon, one of the best areas to grow Pinot Noir.

Oregon makes an infinitesimal amount of wine, just a little over 3.5 million, which represents less than 2% of what California produces. In that arena, two things come to the forefront; it's going to be expensive because it's scarce and it has to be good or it represents no value.

The latter scenario is certainly in play here and because of the drop in wine demand, the prices fall as well. Best part is that we are the beneficiary of that equation and Wine of the Month Club is the first place wineries come to with excess wine.

The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak, of which 30% was new. That treatment brought out the vibrant cherry and earth tone along with spice and tannins to match chicken paprikashor cassoulet.
