This is the club that started it all—I mean really started "wine to your door." The founding feature of the Original WINE OF THE MONTH CLUB™ is the Classic Series.
Each month I taste over 300 wines. Through trade tastings, winemaker visits, in-house tasting sessions, and many other venues, I select the two wines that will be featured for that month's selections. Working in my father's wine shop in the 70's, I used to brown bag and set up the wines each Tuesday for tasting... and that is the tradition still—tasting on Tuesday.
I qualify each wine for its representation of what it should be. In other words, a Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County should be distinctively different from that of the same grape and vintage from Argentina.
Each month you will receive two vintages of wine (full 750ml bottles). The standard shipment includes a red wine and a white wine. Or choose red wine or white wine only. You may also opt for shipments to arrive monthly, every other month or quarterly, each chosen for its quality and value. I can tell you that of the around 300 wines I taste monthly, only 15% are approved for potential club selections and then only 1% make it as selections.
Because of our tenure in the industry and our good standing with wineries, we are sought out chiefly by smaller, lesser-known wineries to feature their wines. After all, you don't need me to find Robert Mondavi or Beringer wines!
Each shipment is accompanied by our full color newsletter packed with information for both the novice and experienced wine taster. It includes winery and winemaker history, recipes, cellaring suggestions, serving suggestions and wine anecdotes to share.

These wines represent great value and are comparable to wines you might see at your local wine shop for $15.00-$19.00. Monthly subscriptions are never more than $27.96 per month for 2 bottles, plus shipping & applicable taxes.

2013. That's the year that I received a 6 month gift subscription from my spouse. I've not looked back. My philosophy on wine is pretty down to earth, it should be enjoyed. Part of that enjoyment is knowing I didn't have to take out a second mortgage for a bottle of wine. This is why, since receiving the gift subscription, I've continued with a Classic Series monthly delivery. The wine is good. As importantly, I've had some interactions with the customer service team at WOMC. Every one of them has been nothing shy of excellent. They are helpful, knowledgeable and have a can-do attitude. Example: I live in a northern climate. After some harsh sustained below zero weather I decided that it would be best to suspend my monthly shipments during the winter. I contacted WOMC and asked them to do so, but also automatically resume in the Spring. Sure enough, without having to ask them, the monthly delivery resumed again as tolerable weather arrived. I've done that now for several years in a row, and without fail they've remembered to resume delivery.
Oh, did I say the wine was good? Yes, I did, but it bears repeating. I'm sure that the wine WOMC sells of higher caliber is indeed what they say it is, but the Classic series has always met my expectations, providing wine from around the world, with information on each bottle that arrives. I get exposure to wine I might not otherwise see, or try, buying it locally. WOMC does a great job of curating what they are providing to their customers.
Yes, you may be able to tell, I would recommend WOMC in a heartbeat.

We have been members of the wine of the month club for 15 years and we still absolutely love it. The wines we receive every month are awesome 90% of the time. We get a bottle here or there that we do not care for. Sometimes I will call to let them know and they are always willing and happy to send us a new bottle. My favorite part of the wine of the month club are the sales and so often I can buy amazing wine that I love and would pay 25 to 30 dollars a bottle for and we get it for 6 dollars a bottle through the club. If you love great wine you cannot pass up a deal like this!

WOMC shares their considerable knowledge and experience in the selection of wines and as an expert negotiante , bringing lower cost wines to the club members. Obtaining many of these smaller batch wines that are offered are a real treasure and normally found only by visiting these specific vintners.

I was really skeptical about signing up for a monthly club, but my close family friends who are also members eventually won me over after I tasted enough of their monthly shipments. Wine of the Month Club guarantees their bottles but I haven't received a bottle I dislike yet! I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised.
