Olivier Chanzy was born into wine royalty. His father, Daniel, owned a small estate in Burgundy where Olivier learned to make Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. He studied with the renowned Aubert de Villaine, owner of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, producer of what many consider the greatest wines on Earth.

Olivier branched out in 2013 by renovating an old facility in Meursault and began producing his own wines. Within just a few vintages, he was being hailed as one of the new generation of winemakers. One who will make their mark on the hallowed ground of Burgundy.

The biggest problem here is that the average holding in Burgundy is one and one half acres. From this you can legally only make about 120 cases of wine labeled Burgundy. It's not enough to live on unless you're getting $1,000 a bottle and there aren't too many of those guys running around.

But Olivier is a master at finding small growers, some with literally a few rows of grapes to sell, but of very high quality, blend them with other small lots to create a greater whole.

His success is staggering. Here he has fashioned a brilliant wine that could easily be confused with an $80.00 Meursault at a fraction of the price. The limestone and minerals enhance the fresh ripe fruit that only great Burgundy can produce.
