Caligiore is a family-owned winery devoted to the production of certified organic wines from Lujan de Cuyo in Argentina. From 3,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the majestic Andes Mountain Range, each of their wines fully captures the unique terroir of the Upper Mendoza River Valley. Caligiore was founded with a vision to develop a sustainable business, local identity, social responsibility, and care for the environment. The aim of Caligiore is to make wine that captures the true essence and culture of Mendoza, Argentina.
The vines at Caligiore were planted in 1973, cultivating Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Bonarda, and Merlot. The high altitude of the vineyard combined with the typical heavy soils of Lujan de Cuyo result in explosive fruit and full-bodied wines. The acidity in the fruit is racy and well balanced, laying the platform for great aging potential. All fruit on the vineyard is hand-harvested, and all the wine is unfiltered and fermented using indigenous yeast, without any stabilizing or fining agents.
The idea for the Symphony line of Caligiore wine, of which Staccato is a part, was conceived on a pleasant Argentine evening while Gustavo Caligiore was gently strumming his guitar. This range is a tribute to Caligiore's love of music. These everyday expressions of great Mendoza wine will instantly elevate any meal. This Malbec Cabernet blend has aromas of leathery black plum, which leads to a lively palate with an acidic punch. Plum and black-fruit flavors are spicy and herbal in front of a fiery finish. Share this wine with friends along with a classic "picadita," the Argentine version of antipasto or tapas. This wine will also pair well with grilled chicken, fresh baked seafood dishes, or a classic roast. For vegetarian options, pair with a creamy risotto or grilled vegetable skewers with herb sauce.
