Winemaker Miguel Besoain has one of the most fascinating resumes we've seen. He is Chilean born, but studied winemaking in France and Germany. Studying in France is quite normal, but this may be the first winemaker we've featured who also studied in Germany. Yet, it makes perfect sense. Germans are known for their exactness, which is a great thing when it comes to wine. It's that training which made Miguel one of the most exacting winemakers we have encountered.

Miguel founded Los Morros in 2005, not far from his home in the Maipo Valley. He loved the mountain terroir, similar to the mountainous regions of Germany, and used that experience to craft wine of exceptional integrity and varietal correctness. Our selection is a perfect example.

Cabernet Sauvignon dominates red wine production in Chile as it does in many other countries. It is very adaptable in producing expressive wines in a variety of places. Chile's Maipo Valley happens to be one of the best. The weather is perfect year round with ample sunshine and almost no rain. They get as much water as they need from the runoff of the Andes. It couldn't be more perfect.

The refreshing essences of cassis and strawberry are immediately noticeable in the nose and palate. Layers of black fruit coupled with a touch of vanilla impound the senses and spread lavishly. A classic Chilean BBQ of a seared rib eye lamb and garlic sausages would do nicely.
