Our selection is part of the Crus et Domaines de France portfolio. They own more than 25 properties in several different wine districts. Chateau Laubes is on the Right Bank of the Garonne River. Like most of its neighbors, its wines are Merlot-based, with additions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

The numbers in Bordeaux are staggering when compared to any other wine producing area in the world. There are between 8,000 and 10,000 actual chateaux and an additional 13,000 growers. For comparison's sake, California has 4,000 wineries, and the entire U.S. has 10,000.

The Helfrich family established Crus at Domaines de France over 100 years ago. Today, of their 25 holdings, 15 are in Bordeaux, where they work with over 150 growers and negociants. Keeping it all together is quite a feat.

Chateau Laubes is in the Cadillac region of Bordeaux, which is best known for their dessert wines. In case you're wondering, the car is named after the region, not the other way around.

Our selection is a classic Bordeaux wine powered by Merlot. It offers characteristic red berry and blueberry fruit flavors, along with telltale traces of the earth in which the grapes were grown. The berry and earthy nose set the scene for harmonious tastes to follow, expanded on with hints of minerality, plus touches of marzipan, saddle leather and mint.
