Brothers Fred T. and Joseph S. Franzia alongside their first cousin, John G. Franzia, spent their childhoods learning every aspect of the wine business from their fathers'. In 1973, they succumbed to the industry's charms and decided to start their own company, called Bronco Wine Company. Today, the company has grown to become a force in the US wine industry, all while remaining family owned. It has committed itself to becoming the largest privately held US vineyard holder, while still prioritizing the creation of quality wines.
Napa Ridge, a part of Bronco Wine Company since 2000, is dedicated to one goal: providing outstanding wines destined for the American table. The vineyards at Napa Ridge experienced mild July and August weather, followed by warm days approaching the harvest of this vintage. This provided the grapes with ample sunshine and allowed them to reach optimum maturity, resulting in perfectly ripe fruit and thus a wine that is full-bodied and graceful.
The color of the wine resembles Almandine Garnets. Layers of flavors include black cherries, black olives, chocolate, and cedar. The structure of the wine, founded on silky tannins, creates a warm and lasting finish. This wine is concentrated and rich. The skillful cellaring permits the wine to achieve a balance of subtle spicy notes and soft tannins, delivering a silky, smooth finish. This Napa Ridge Cabernet is to be savored. Pair with steak au poivre, black lentil soup with kielbasa, roast leg of lamb, or braised country style pork ribs with rigatoni.
