Ca' Dei Mona was founded by Andrea Semprembon and Christian Simionato, owners of Alwaysgood Wines, a wine import and distribution company. Their goal was simple; find the best small, independent growers you can and guarantee them a sale if they produce wines of superior quality. Not everyone was willing to go along, but those that did were rewarded as well as our members.
Our selection is the first vintage from a partnership with the Simionato Family in Venezia to produce Pinot Grigio. Tucked away on Italy's northeast corner, it is considered the finest area for whites in the country. Selections like this are positive proof of that.
Pinot Grigio is the Italian name for Pinot Gris, which is what it is called in France, where it produces substantial, age worthy wines of distinction. Every state in Italy produces Pinot Grigio and most are lovely, quaffable wines for every day drinking. However, in that corner of Italy things get a bit more exciting. Here, the climate and soil combine for an enthusiastic blend of presence, persistence, and perfection at every turn.
The amalgam of aromas and flavors is awe inspiring. From the scents of jasmine and lemon peel to the flavors of Asian pear, quince and tangerine, it's a thrill ride at every turn. This is a substantial wine and would shine with substantial food like a lobster pasta with fresh basil or a seated pork loin seasoned olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs.
