We're not sure where to begin here. Suffice to say that we were no less than flabbergasted when we were brought this wine. First of all, it comes from Pomerol, one of Bordeaux most famous appellations. Many of the finest and most expensive wines in the world hail from here. Their neighbor is no less than Chateau Le Pin. Their wines start at $400.00 per bottle!

Next comes the vintage. Usually, wines of this age from superb vintages begin to show their stuff. The 2011 vintage was ranked as average in the Left Bank, where most of the great wines reside. But Pomerol is on the Right Bank and there the vintage was ranked superb, as this beauty shows. Our selection is crafted by Chateau Fonplegade, a Grand Cru Classe, which is the top ranking in Pomerol. Stephen and Denise Adams purchased the property in 2004 after their honeymoon in St. Emilion, next door to Pomerol. They became so enthralled with the wine culture that decades later they leaped in.

Our 100% Merlot beauty spent 16 months in barrels, 40% of which were new. The majestic flavors of a classic Bordeaux of this pedigree are breathtaking. The wine looks and tastes particularly young for its age. Hints of tobacco and cedar meld into flecks of plum and cherry ready for rack of lamb smothered in garlic.
