Stephen Vincent was created in 2001 by three friends with a shared passion for wine. All three are wine industry veterans: Robert Goyette was a winemaker at La Crema; Hossein Namdar was a prominent vineyard owner; and Stephen Vincent Situm (who became the brand's namesake) was an executive at Robert Mondavi. Their mission was simple-to create a portfolio of wines that showcases the best of Northern California at price points that are accessible to everyone.
Stephen Vincent wines are sourced from some of the most prestigious regions in Northern California. Under the direction of award-winning winemaker, Adam LaZarre, they partner with winegrowers dedicated to producing fantastic grapes, vintage after vintage. This 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Napa Valley, including the distinguished sub-appellations of Rutherford, Yountville, and Oak Knoll.
This Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in French oak and finished with American oak. Classic aromas dominate with notes of blackberry liqueur, boysenberry, and spices like anise with hints of pipe tobacco. Flavors of the darkest fruits such as ultra-ripe raspberry, black currant, dried black cherry, and plumb, are evident. Aging in both French and American oak imparts notes of caramel, toasted coconut, and briarwood. The finish is highlighted by firm tannins with a delicate thread of acidity and a long finish. This wine will pair well with grilled lamb kabobs accompanied by yogurt and mint. For a lighter meal, go with seared tuna and arugula. Pair with roasted green vegetables and wild rice for your vegetarian meal. Don't forget the cheese plate! Pair this wine with a fatty Camembert and walnuts at your next wine and cheese gathering.
