The only thing one needs to know about this wine is that it is crafted by Karen Cakebread, a former member of a wine family that is almost unequaled in terms of reputation. In other words, she was exposed to the highest wine quality California has to offer.

She launched Ziata, named after her mother, in 2008 with the concept of making the best Sauvignon Blanc possible in the Napa Valley. She thought, and we agree, that there were far too many Cabernets from Napa and not enough Sauvignon Blanc. As they do in Bordeaux, the two grapes grow magnificently in the same climate and soil. Karen's experience was in every facet of the winery operation, but she didn't consider herself a winemaker. Therefore, she made the perfect decision to hire Jennifer Williams as a consultant. Jennifer was winemaker of no less than Spottswoode, considered one of the finest wineries in the state.

Now in her 15th harvest, we can attest that she hasn't skipped a beat. Each vintage was a learning experience and Karen and Jennifer have studied it well. Our selection is about as good as Sauvignon Blanc can get from one of the best areas to grow it. This is a white wine for red wine drinkers. You are immediately drawn to the explosive aromas of white peach, guava, and nectarine. The palate follows suit like flavors expanded by swatches of lime and grapefruit. The light oak treatment adds a touch of spice and the amalgam of flavors begs for a seafood pasta or swordfish stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes.
