Our selection comes from Jackson Family wines founded in 1982 by Jess Jackson. He was a well-established trial attorney in San Francisco with a passion for wine. Jackson was able to realize his dream when he purchased an 80 acre parcel in Lakeport and decided to plant grapes and make his own wine.

Back then it was called Kendall-Jackson and within a few short years became the #1 selling Chardonnay in the United States. He built one of the most successful wine operation ever known. Wine brands and wineries were established in many of the finest wine areas in California including Santa Barbara, Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma. He was nothing short of a legend until his passing in 2011. The company is now run by his widow and offspring. Jackson instilled a work ethic for quality in his children that is still evident today. He was also a huge benefactor of the local community as his family has donated more than $5 million to its enhancement.

Our selection is a textbook class on making wine with a sense of purity and style seldom seen. Winemaker Adam Lee uses no oak in his treatment. Instead, the wine is held in vats to slowly develop into a dramatic wine.

He also uses indigenous yeasts and partial whole berry fermentation. It is a process of piling the grapes on top of each other until the weight cracks the skins and very gently ferments the grapes. This approach accounts for the luscious raspberry, spice, and alluring finish of incredible proportions.
