Cliff Lede had the vision and resources to do everything right when in 2002, he purchased 60 acres in one of Napa's most respected appellations, Stag's Leap. His European background gave him respect and reverence for wine of the old world. He continues to honor those principles in California.

The first thing he did upon purchasing the property is hire David Abreu to plan and plant the vineyard. To say that Abreu is the most celebrated vineyard manager in California would be an understatement. He has consulted for the most famous producers in Napa including Screaming Eagle, Staglin Family, Colgin Cellars, Harlan Estate, Bryant Family Vineyard, Araujo Estate Wines, and Grace Family Vineyards, among others.

As if that wasn't enough, he then hired Christopher Tynan as winemaker, who had an equally impressive resume as Abreu. Christopher was born in New York, but raised in Texas. He got the wine bug in college and moved to California after graduation. He learned winemaking from the ground up with stints among many of the famous properties Abreu consulted for.

All this firepower comes with great expectations and we were not disappointed. Our selection is 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Semillon, and 3% Sauvignon Vert, a little-known clone of Sauvignon Blanc which adds a green tartness to the wine. The amalgam is nothing short of perfection. From the lemon meringue to the subtle tangerine, minerals, and subtle vanilla, it pleases at every turn. The fresh herbs and peach are held in check by the lovely acidity begging for raw oysters or fresh sushi.
