Resolution Cabernet Sauvignon is the handiwork of Gary Branham of Branham Estate in the Napa Valley. He's been a winemaker since his college days, but he got more serious about it by earning his graduate degree in Enology and Viticulture at U.C. Davis, California's preeminent school for winemaking and viticulture.

In 1989, Gary purchased part of the historic Rockpile Ranch in Sonoma County, and planted what would be his Rockpile Vineyard in 1994. It is now considered one of the finest vineyards in the state. So much so, that it is now its very own AVA, or American Viticultural Area.

While Gary is very proud that 95% of his wine comes from his estate, he will cross any boundary in his quest to make the best wine possible in any given vintage. For our selection, Gary sourced grapes exclusively from Napa Valley: 50% Obsidian Vineyards and 50% Taplin Vineyards.

These two vineyards exemplify the heart and soul of Napa Valley. Taplin is in St. Helena, the unofficial capital of Napa. Obsidian is to the east, over the hills along the Silverado Trail in what is best known as the Stags Leap District.

Some of the best wineries in Napa dot these areas. St. Helena is known for softer, more elegant gems, while Stags Leap produces bigger and bolder wines. The combination yields the best of both, with power and glory to spare along with ample fruit along the way.
