Thomas Henry Meadowcroft grew up loving wine. He was fortunate to travel to Europe at a very early age and worked the Bordeaux harvest in 1979. That experience sealed the deal. From then on, he worked at wineries in Washington and Napa. He earned winemaking degrees at UC Davis and Napa College, and then became a vineyard manager and focused on sustainable farming and environmental advocacy. He managed dozens of properties for the top wineries in Napa and Sonoma and learned the principles of winegrowing, which gave him his blueprint for the kinds of wines he makes today.

Tom knows that the wine is made in the vineyard, which is why he dedicated himself to understanding every aspect of the grape growing process. That understanding led him toward organic farming and a sustainable footprint in order to preserve the eco-system that allowed him to make the exceptional wines he produces. Chardonnay is unquestionably the most popular and most planted grape varietal in the world. From 1980 to 1990, the plantings of Chardonnay quadrupled to 250,000 acres and by 2010 had doubled to nearly 500,000. The problem, as always, is that the number of acres doesn't equal the quality of the wine.

Sonoma doesn't have that problem. It has been recognized as one of the finest areas to grow Chardonnay in the US. Our selection is a perfect example. The cool climate allows the lovely green apple and passion fruit to develop into complex nuances, including kiwi, guava, and lime zest. The stunning mid-palate would fit perfectly around lobster on the half shell or a smoked chicken pasta.
