From its perch high on a crest in the Mayacamas Mountains, Adler Fels (German for "Eagle Rock") has the perfect view of vineyards from Sonoma to Napa and beyond. From this vantage point, the winemakers are ideally positioned to select the very best vineyards from which to craft their wines. For 35 years, they have made award-winning wines through excellent sourcing and a winemaking team that allows the qualities of the grapes to shine through to the glass.
The Adler Fels team searches out the best vineyards and makes the grapes into remarkable wines. Renowned winemakers Aaron Bader and Linda Trotta continue a tradition of making superlative wines from top grape growers who have worked with the winery for as many as three generations.
The 2014 Pinot Noir vintage in California was the third consecutive year of exceptional vintages. An initially dry winter was relieved by significant rain in early March. Plenty of high-quality fruit was available for Aaron with which to experiment. His selection of grapes was followed by traditional viticulture and careful blending to create an expressive Pinot Noir.
As Aaron Bader asserts, "Making good Pinot is both a physical and mental exercise. And then it's so darn delicious. It's sexy, luscious, with that sweet perfume, a hint of maple syrup, and lush fruit." This selection delivers on his promise.
