Cooper Jaxon is the work of Brian Loring and his sister, Kimberly. They founded Loring Wine Company with their combined savings of $20,000 in 1999. They had no winery, no vineyard and no experience. They did have a very deep passion for Pinot Noir and were going to prove they could produce world-class Pinot Noir.
With all those odds against them, they succeeded beyond their means. With three tons of Pinot Noir grapes, they rented time in a winery and made their first 150 cases. It sold out a few months later, so they just kept going.
Brian learned on the job and obviously learned well. Against all odds, he has succeeded in making as many as 10 Pinot Noirs in one year, all from different vineyard sources. Today, they are housed in a modest cinder block building in the Santa Ynez Valley churning out stunning wines that have attained international acclaim.
Our selection comes from no less than seven different vineyards using five different clones of Pinot Noir. It was their first venture using grapes from outside Santa Barbara and it turned out to be a great one. It gave them a lot more different flavors to work with and they were able to blend a wine that probably couldn't come from just one vineyard.
The depth of flavors is nothing short of remarkable. From the intense black cherry to rose petals and mint, our Cooper Jaxon nails a wine that would envelop everything from fried chicken to poached salmon and beyond.
