Sean Minor has been a superstar in the world of wine for nearly 30 years. He's a Kansas-born Midwesterner who went to school in Arizona, where he got his degree in finance and he met his future wife, Nicole. His first job out of school was at none other than Beaulieu Vineyards in the Napa Valley.
As usual, it was goodbye finance, hello winemaking. Sean's resume at high profile wineries in California and Oregon is enviable, but it wasn't until he and Nicole founded Sean Minor Wines in 2005 that he became a household name.
While Sean makes exemplary Chardonnay and Cabernet, it is his Pinot Noirs that have captured all the attention. Culling the best of the best grapes from Napa and Sonoma, he has become a near legend. Not being one to stick in one place, Sean also experimented with grapes from the Central Coast and found them to be exceptional. And so, his Four Bears Pinot Noir was born, named after his four children.
Our selection is classic Central Coast Pinot Noir with the telltale earthy component in the nose venturing into similar vibrations on the palate and expanding the experience with Bing cherry fruit, spice and cotton candy.
The wine was aged in a combination of new and used oak barrels to expand the flavors, but not hide them. The intense Pinot Noir character comes from Sean's gentle touch, keeping the dignity and nobility of the grape intact. Roast duck with green lentils would a fitting match.
