We love stories like Jason Martin's almost as much as we love the wine. Three years ago, Jason thought there just weren't enough wineries specializing in ros? in California like there were in France. So, he set out to change all that.

Working in his garage with his neighbors, they crushed their first vintage using a vintage press, a garden hose and 5-gallon water bottles. However, all of this "seat-of-the-pants" operation did not include secondary grapes. Some of the greatest ros?s come from the Provence region of France and are made with Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. So, he went to the best area for those secondary grapes, the Central Coast of California, and found the best he could. Voil?, this Republic of Pink rose is the result.

For this rose he also added a touch of Cabernet Franc, a Central Coast specialty, as proof that "sometimes you need a little craziness" and the result was anything but crazy. How crazy? Well, some of the greatest roses in the world come from the Loire and the sole grape they used? You guessed it, Cabernet Franc!

We never question a winemaker's decisions, only the results and these results are unquestionably incredible. Quite honestly, one blind sip and we'd swear this came right out of Provence. From the rose petals in the nose to the luscious cherry blossom and peach, it's all here and waiting for an ahi tuna salad with lemon and mint dressing or vegetarian spring rolls.
