You know we're in for a story when the name of the wine translates to "Pink Water," and it is by someone called "Jose Rose." Kris Rosenberg was a stand-up comedian and writer who was smitten by ros? wine for as much its color as its taste. So, he and his wine partner, Jonathan Marquez, created this fictional character, Jose Rose, who danced and told funny stories all around his favorite wine, rose.
While getting traction for their sketches with the Jose character, Kris realized that he knew nothing about the making of the wine Jos? was romanticizing. So, they took a road trip along the 101 Highway and began tasting roses from Santa Barbara to Monterey. The one that knocked their socks off came from a small Paso Robles vineyard with 50-year-old Grenache vines planted there. So, they made a deal to use the grapes, winery, and staff to make the wine. During this adventure they learned how ros? is made as well as how it's not made. They basically learned by doing, experimenting, and finally succeeding.
It's no coincidence that many of the finest roses in the world are made from the Grenache grape and our selection shows why. The age of the vines is what exhibits the depth of flavor here. The strawberry, peach and nectarine nuances come billowing out of the glass and on the palate with great aplomb. From Chinese chicken salad to a tuna and avocado sandwich, it's only a matter of time 'til you'll be saying, "Salute Jose!"
