La Domitienne is a small estate in Provence owned by the Bonfils Family. They specialize in rose wine and for a good reason. The Languedoc has been famous for its rose wine for almost 50 years and is one of the best places in the world for rose.

It all began at the Cannes Film Festival, filled with stars and moguls. A bottle of ros? was placed on every table in almost every restaurant to show off their prized wine. Well, guess what happened when they came back to Hollywood? They all wanted rose, and thus, the legend began.

Bonfils was one of the first to realize the potential of rose as it has been a favorite of the French for generations. But it took a while to catch on in the US. The beauty of rose here is that you have a plethora of grapes to choose from and all produce outstanding rose, But, if we had to choose one, it would be Mourvedre.

We use a lot of terms to describe a wine, but oddly grapey isn't one of them, which is rather odd, don't you think? But that is a perfect description here. There is a grapey component in Mourvedre that is unmistakable. The silky texture adds to the flavors of peach, nectar, and cherry blossom to produce an outstanding wine that could match any food imaginable from sausage and peppers to salmon tartar to chicken Parmigiano. It's about as universal as a wine can get.
