The Fableist is a collaboration between winemakers Curt Schalchlin and Andrew Jones Curt, owner and vintner of the heralded winery Sans Liege. He is known for his critically acclaimed Rhone varietal wines. Andrew, winemaker of Field Recordings, spends his days planning and planting vineyards, and has set foot in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast. They come together to produce The Fableist, a collaboration that gives special attention to the craft and story behind each wine.

The winemaking team at The Fableist is always trying to evolve by finding new and fun places and people to work and engage with. They were very intentional with the grapes they grew and way they picked them to make this rose. The Mourvedre comes from dry farmed, head trained vines at Old Potrero in Arroyo Grande, CA. The Blaufrankisch is from their Pomar estate, originally planted for legendary winemaker Ken Volk. The grapes were sent directly to press whole cluster and fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. They blended and bottle in December 2021 to retain the wines youthful, bright energy, and freshness.

This wine springs to life with the scent of sharp green apples and spark of bright acidity, it is then soothed with refreshing notes of cream soda, ripe strawberries, and river rock. Pair this rose with a warm goat cheese salad or a prosciutto and melon appetizer. It also pairs well with a couscous and grilled vegetable salad or grilled shrimp skewers.
