The family that produces Tiamo Prosecco Rose has been making wine in the Veneto for three generations. Tiamo 2020 Prosecco Rose is made from organically grown grapes in the Prosecco DOC. There is very little acreage of organic Pinot Noir in the Prosecco DOC, making organically grown Prosecco Rose a rarity.
The DOC approved Prosecco Rose in May 2020, making it one of the newest categories in wine. It must be a blend of predominantly Glera and Pinot Noir, to achieve its color and style. It is also required to be vintage dated (versus non-vintage).
This Tiamo Prosecco Rose is a blend of 85% Glera and 15% Pinot Noir. It is produced in the classic Charmat method: the Glera and Pinot Noir go through the first fermentation separately, and are then blended in steel tanks with the addition of must and selected yeasts at a controlled low temperature for the second fermentation. Once the wine has reached the required alcohol and sugar content, it is then filtered before bottling.
Tiamo Prosecco Rose has floral notes on the nose, and comes through with fresh apple, pear, citrus, and strawberry on the palate. Pair this wine with barbecued sausage or pork ribs. Because of the Rose's acidity, it will also pair well with anything fried and fatty, such as chicken schnitzel. If this wine is being served with brunch, pair it with poached eggs and bacon, or anything that is served with hollandaise sauce.
