Puech-Haut rests on the shores of the Mediterranean in the Languedoc region of France. Its 625 acres is made up mostly of Rhone varietals, as is our selection of 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault.
In 2019, the very warm climate ripened the grapes very rapidly, making it necessary for the winery to pick the grapes beginning at 2:00 am. This assured that both the grapes and the pickers would get to the winery safely.
Rose has always been a staple in the Languedoc, but in the last 10 years or so, it has exploded all over the world. As a result, Languedoc's production of Ros? has more than doubled with demand going up by leaps and bounds.<./p>
One of the things that drew us to Puech-Haut, other than its quality, is the fact that it is imported by Michael Mondavi. The Mondavi name is one of the most respected and influential names in wine, not just in California, but all over the world. When Michael's father, Robert, founded his iconic winery in Napa in 1965, it quickly became the standard by which all other wineries would be held to. Through the decades, partnerships with premium producers all over the world has always made the Mondavi name a symbol of quality.
Our selection certainly qualifies to be in that arena. The raspberry and cherry flavors blend seamlessly with the spice and mineral, offering an expansive set of flavors and textures to match Chinese chicken salad, seared ahi or crab enchiladas.
