The Daou Family history is an inspiring story of triumph over tragedy. The winery is owned by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou located in the majestic hills of the west side of Paso Robles. Their story begins in the 50's in Lebanon when their father married their mother and started his own carpentry business.
As the brothers got involved, along with their two sisters, Marie Jo and Michelle, the business grew to become the most successful furnishing company in the Middle East. But, in the 70's, Lebanon was a place of strife. When a missile struck their house and injured them all, they had no choice but to flee. That flight took them to the south of France where they were introduced to the many exciting wines of the area. That's all it took. They then traveled to America to fulfill their wine dream and founded a successful electronics company along the way. They then purchased property in Pas Robles to found the winery, fulfilling and making their wine dreams into reality.
When their sister Michelle passed from cancer, it ignited the brothers' determination to produce wines she would have been proud of. They have succeeded beyond words. Daou is now considered one of the best Cabernet producers in California. However, our selection reflects the great Roses they tasted in France. Like those in France, it is mostly Grenache and gives off the classic spice and bright fruit we expect from this extraordinary grape. The finish invites panoply of flavors from a seared ahi with wasabi cream or crab stuffed mushrooms.
